Newtown Fish & Game Club

Newtown CT

Fish

The Club's primary source for fishing is Taunton Lake in Newtown, Connecticut.  Fishing is restricted to members only and can be from the shore or members can launch a boat at the private boat ramp.  Please note that only electric motors are allowed to be used on the lake.

Taunton is stocked six times each year with trout.  NF&GC stocks only trout -- Brown, Rainbow and Brook.  Bass reproduce in the lake as do other fish, including white and yellow perch and sunfish.  Members have been known to even catch a turtle or two!

NF&GC owns two other properties which provide some additional fishing.  New Milford has a large beaver type pond that empties into a stream which has native brook trout.  The Falls Village property has the Hollenbeck River running through it.

-- MEMBER/GUEST TOURNAMENTS --

All members were invited to bring a guest for the annual Member/Guest Tournament.  It was hot and humid day, but all who attended had a great time.  Ca$h prizes were awarded for the largest trout and bass caught every hour and a separate pool for the largest fish of the day!!  Take a look at some photos below.

Lunch was served at the pavilion and included a charcoal grilled Steak, Corn on the Cob, Salads, Watermelon, Carrot Cake and plenty of cold drinks for a bunch of thirsty participants!  Thanks to Rich Caruso and his crew for another successful tournament!
